New agent marketing

The hardest part of real estate for new agents is getting clients. Not having enough clients is the #1 reason why agents fail. Most brokerages will encourage you to do passive marketing:

  • Help desk and floor duty. Waiting for the phone to ring from a customer that doesn't have an agent.
  • Open houses. One day a week you get to sit in a home and wait for buyers to come on in.
  • Farming an area. Spending money on mailers to market yourself to a given area of town.
  • Renters. Bulk mailing apartment complexes.
  • Sphere of influence. Marketing to your friends and contacts about your new career.
  • FSBO's. Trying to get for sale by owners to list their homes with you.

At Revealty we have a "think out of the box" approach to real estate. To help new agents we have the exlusive local rights to www.Helpingsell.com. Take a look at their web site. It is a for sale by owner marketing program but with some major differences:

  • The program is free to sellers.
  • We aren't trying to convince them to list but to use the program to help them market their home. This is a huge difference from what other agents are doing.
  • www.Helpingsell.com is a great marketing tool for fsbo's. At Revealty we believe in adding value to our relationships. This program accomplishes this by giving the fsbo something that helps them.

How does this benefit agents?

  1. It gives you something immediately proactive to do. From your first day at work you can be in direct contact with consumers who are selling or buying and don't already have an agent.
  2. Because you are trying to help the fsbo and not convince them to do something else you are building referral opportunities and more then half will eventually list anyways. This gives you a great opportunity to profit from that next step.
  3. Most importantly is the program generates buyer leads. The more signs in yards the more buyer leads you will get. The benefit of the fsbo program is you aren't spending money marketing the home. The fsbo is. And that marketing will generate buyer leads for you.

What is the downside?

  • It's work. We provide fsbo contacts for you to call but you have to call them and "sell" the program. Even if it is free it means having to work. We don't have a magic sit back and wait system.
  • Once a fsbo agrees to sign up you go to the house, meet them, take pictures of their house for them and sign them up. This takes time and effort. But it does provide a marketing opportunity.
