Hiring an Agent
Information on Central Ohio and Columbus, Ohio real estate agents, home buyer agents and real estate brokers. Most Buyers assume the Agent's primary job is to find a house. Sometimes this is the easiest part; you should expect much more from your Agent. Your Agent adds value to the transaction, not just because of their ability to access listing information, but also their ability to: - Create value for the Buyer:
- When you see a house, you don't just want to know the size, age, etc., but you want your Agent to teach you about what kind of homes and in which areas have the best chance for appreciating the most. There is no guarantee about the future of the market, but if you see enough homes you will start to understand why certain homes appreciate more than others. If your Agent is not discussing these issues with you, you're not getting what you're paying for and deserve.
- Your Agent should negotiate to get the lowest price possible on the best terms. During negotiations your Agent should be taking advantage of any weakness the Seller may have.
- Protect the Buyer: Your Agent should be doing everything possible to protect you by the terms of the contract. They should try to identify and then minimize your exposure to risk throughout the transaction.
- Finding the home: Understanding the marketplace and keeping you focused are two important parts of the Agent's job. If the Agent truly understands your requirements, the process will become focused and less stressful.
